![]() ![]() For example, we were rushing to catch a plane the last day, and every restaurant was closed changing from breakfast to lunch just before noon. There are strange rules that seem counter intuitive. Stick with the big buffet for breakfast and lunch. Definitely avoid the fondue and the steakhouse. Other than the Mexican buffet one night, it was hard to find any Mexican food or seafood served. The food is not so good if you like to eat the things that Mexico does really well. The front desk gave us two room upgrades when checking in, asked us to wait two hours while they made up our suite, and then retracted the upgrates when we came back, hot and tired, two hours later to get our keys. Here's the straight story: - The campus and facilities are beautiful, better than any other Mexican resort I've ever visited. I checked the reviews on this site before we left and feel they were a little too generous. It is a top notch resort with beautiful rooms, gorgeous grounds and a wonderful staff. All in all, I would revisit the Lindo in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone and everyone. The heat was like nothing I have ever experienced (and I love the heat). If you are going to Tulum, do so early in the morning. I would highly recommend XelHa to anyone and everyone. We day tripped to Tulum/XelHa and did a day at Playa Del Carmen. There were 3 couples - all in our early - mid 30s and we had an exceptional vacation. Our typical day was to stay at the pool until early afternoon (Roger at the swimup bar is the Man) and venture to the beach in the afternoon to escape the heat and play in the waves. The beach was beautiful but the waves were rough and playing in them was a workout. Lunches were great at the buffet in the restaurant and weren't so hot at the restaurant by the pool. The Italian was ok and I knew enough from the reviews not to venture to the fondue. The food was best at the gourmet, cajun and the steakhouse. Our experience was nothing but a delight. You will formulate your own opinion of this property upon arriving and experiencing the Iberostar hospitality. I scanned these reviews prior to our trip and found them useful as far as the restaurants, etc. ![]() The grounds are beautiful and immaculate, the service and staff are like nothing I have ever experienced. ![]() The weather was exceptionally fabulous and the resort was beyond words. I just returned on the 25 of April after a week of absolute paradise. I just reviewed some of the comments regarding the Lindo and am starting to wonder if I visited the same resort. Just thought I'd send out a warning, especially to Canadians, about this hotel. What's up with that? It was the first time we booked through Air Canada Vacations And the first time booking an Iberostar hotel. We have been travelling for many years and have NEVER had this type of thing happen to us. We spent hours speaking to Air Canada Reps. to find out that we were being moved to a different resort was not a great start to a well-deserved vacation! We arrived at the Moon Palace only to discover that they had no record of us coming AND NO rooms available!!! Eventually, things did get worked out. ![]() We had researched many hotels before deciding on this one. We were not too impressed! We booked this NEW Iberostar hotel in September 2003. 24 hours before we departed for Mexico, we were notified by our travel agent that this hotel was overbooked and we were being moved to another resort (Moon Palace). We were supposed to stay at the new Iberostar Lindo resort (for 8 nights). I'm not the type of person to complain about a trip, but I decided that I just could not let this experience go without mentioning it. ![]()
